October 15th is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

October 15th is National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day in the United States. Each year, over half a million dreams are shattered. Out of 3.3 million born alive, some 30,000 die during the first 28 days. Another 39,000 babies are still born. Miscarriage occurs in fifteen to twenty percent of pregnancies, while ectopic pregnancy occurs in one percent.
More than 25,000 children are stillborn in the United States every year leaving mothers, entire families and communities devastated. Estimates of the rate of occurrence of stillbirth make it at least as common as autism.

Stillbirth is not an intractable problem. Greater research would likely significantly reduce its incidence, but good research requires good data. H.R. 5979: Stillbirth Awareness and Research Act is under consideration by Congress. This proposed bill would standardize stillbirth investigation and diagnosis, thus providing more data for the needed research. Better research means fewer children born still.

On October 15th, remember the thousands of unfinished children lost and the families who remain to grieve them. Honor them by taking action. Let's help pass H.R. 5979.

17 months old

Good morning! Today is Kateley's 17 month old birthday, and as I type she is sitting in the floor coloring on herself with an orange marker. Thank goodness she has not had a bath yet. So anyway~This Saturday we went to uncle Bob's pumpkin patch in Newnan Ga. Not really a pumpkin patch but we had a great time. The day started off kinda rocky as Lee would not listen to the Garmin and we could not find the pumpkin patch. But once we finally got there, we went through the barn and saw all they pretty stuff for sale. Then the petting zoo, Kateley acted a little scared at first but before it was all over she was petting the baby goat. Ms. Jan (owner of the farm) gave us a very interesting lesson on spinning materials to make different kinds of yarn. Then it was time for the hayride. I think we all enjoyed the hayride the most, it took us on a tour of the farm, and we were able to see all the horses;witch Kateley loved. Lets see, after the hayride we walked into the bee barn that was pretty neat to see how the bee s work. After a couple hours at Uncle Bob's we were all tired and hungry so Lee navigated our way over to a great lunch at Bugaboo's steak house! Yumyum. Hope you all have a great Monday! Here are a few pictures of our pumpkin patch trip.

great question!

Today I was talking with a patient waiting on the DR to come in. She said so Tiff what is your favorite moment in motherhood thus far? Wow what a great question! Then I started rambling: Well the moment she was born was a great one, She was so tiny and cute, and we had waited what seems like forever to meet her. Then last Christmas she was sitting on her on staring at the Christmas tree and twinkling lights. When she started to crawl~that funny army crawl thing she did, that was great and I miss it. Then walking, she has done so many funny and cute things since she started walking. Waking her daddy and I up in the mornings that is so sweet, even when we pretend to still be sleeping, hoping that she will lay back down(it never works, she just gets louder and funnier!!) Bath times are great, I know she will do something crazy silly in there. I love it when she stops to smell the flowers. I love her mean face, and her smiley face too. Kateley gives the biggest and tightest hugs, to be so smallher hugs sure make you feel good. Well I don t really guess I have a favorite single moment, they are all good and special in their own way. Have a great day! And whats your favorite moment as a parent?

monday mornings~

So Monday mornings are all mine and Kateley's. I have the day off and Lee is working so its just us girls here playing. Kateley did not make it to dinner last night so she ate chicken fries for breakfast and seemed to love them! I also HAD some pictures to share with every one from her bath last night. Bath time is a favorite her at our house, but I did not have the memory card in my camera while taking pictures of the silly girl. So who knows where the pictures are. I don t know what was up with her last night, if she was excited to see us after a weekend away or what, but she really put on a show it the bath tub. She was yelling, dancing, dunking her head in the water, and just being a silly sweet girl. Right now as I type she is being such a sweet girl, she is holding her baby doll and her sippy cup talking to her baby. She is gonna be such a great big sister one day.
Ohh She has a few new words: Dee flo(dental floss), and pupkin(pumpkin).
Hope you have a wonderful Monday!
